About the Owner

Dan Andersen, PhD, MS, MPH, CAPS, is a doctor of gerontology and is an expert in aging in place and senior housing.

Dan spent a career in healthcare research focused on healthcare quality, especially focused on the post-acute and long-term care settings. His academic, government, and private consulting jobs emphasized for him that people thrive best in the place that they know, surrounded by their family, friends, and community supports that have been created over time, often over many decades.

He is the owner of Andersen Home Advantage. Dan created Andersen Home Advantage LLC to help individuals stay in their homes and communities for as long as possible and to help developers, planners, and local governments to create environments that foster aging in place.

Dan provides advice on long-term care and senior housing options when aging-in-place is not feasible or is not preferred. To this he brings years of experience focused on providing data to consumers to make housing and healthcare decision. Dan previously worked at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services where he helped develop quality measures for nursing homes, analyzed regulatory and clinical data, and oversaw activities related to quality rating systems of healthcare providers, and the operations of public websites (e.g., Nursing Home Compare).
